Greetings from the Board:

PCASC continues to outreach and educate commissioners, directors, staff and the public on the advantages of the “merit system.”

The number one priority of our organization is to ensure the best qualified employees are selected and promoted, which in turn supports student learning.

Networking among our colleagues to learn best practices from each other and finding solutions to challenging issues can be accomplished through your participation in our luncheon meetings, mini-conferences and annual statewide conferences. Sharing knowledge and continuing to educate our members will continue to strengthen the principles of the “merit system.”

In keeping with our priority:

1. On June 1, 2018, we hosted a one-day conference at the Paradise Pier Hotel in Anaheim. This conference was enthusiastically attend by over 145 commissioners, directors and staff members. Chaired by PCASC board members BethAnn Arko and Joan Stiegelmar, this conference provided us another opportunity to serve our members with an outstanding program that included topics meaningful to commissioners, administrators and staff. All those that attended will receive copies of the presentations made during the breakout sessions.

2. The members attending the June 1, 2018 conference also participated in a PCASC business meeting. During the business meeting, members voted unanimously to elect a new Board of Directors. Newly elected Board members are Judy Nieh (Commissioner at Rowland USD) and Scott Pilch (Executive Director, LACOE). The board members will serve a two-year term that begins July 1, 2018.

3. On November 2, 2018, we will host a luncheon seminar at Rio Hondo Event Center, in Downey, CA. More information on this seminar will become available later this summer.

4. We (PCASC) will host the annual CSPCA State conference on February 7-10, 2019. Chairperson, Nora Roque will be distributing more information about the conference later this summer.
