Merit System Academy Scholarships

The Personnel Commissions Association of Southern California (PCASC) is pleased to announce that it will provide two scholarships for qualified PCASC members to attend the 2019 California School Personnel Commissioners Association (CSPCA) Merit Academy.

The 2019 Merit Academy will be held at: Poway USD in San Diego County.
The dates are: January 12, February 23, March 23, April 27 and May 18, 2019.

In order to apply for a scholarship, it is necessary to complete an application packet.   Included in the packet is an application and a Financial Need Statement.  The Application and Financial Need Statement must be completed in full and returned, along with a letter of recommendation from the applicant’s current employer, to PCASC in care of the committee member listed below.

Each applicant will be evaluated on how well he/she meets the following criteria:
  • You must be a classified employee or a personnel commissioner in a district that is a member of PCASC. 
  • If an employee:
    • You are pursuing human resources leadership role in a merit system school district.
    • Your educational goals demonstrate the pursuit of a career in human resources.
As there are only two scholarships available each year, it may be necessary to narrow the field of qualified applicants.  The Financial Need Statement will be reviewed and taken into consideration in the selection of a qualified applicant with the greatest financial need.

The Scholarship Review Committee will review application materials and inform each applicant whether or not they have been selected to receive the PCASC scholarship.
